Taylor Swift fans think singer ‘crossed the line’ after ‘unnecessary & immature’ song about Kim Kardashian on new album

after Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian’s feud started, the former has appeared to release a song about the latter.

After she released The Tortured Poets Department, some fans thought one lyric was a bit “immature” and she “crossed the line” when she wished the Skims founder dead.

Taylor’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, dropped on April 19.

Just as fans were getting ready to go to bed, Taylor, 34, surprised them with a double album and 15 more songs to make The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.

Aside from throwing shade to her ex-boyfriends – Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy – and singing about how in love she is with boyfriend Travis Kelce, Taylor also threw shade to a known enemy.

On the second album, there is a song titled thanK you aIMee, with the letters purposefully capitalized.

The one that were uppercase spelled out KIM, as in Kim Kardashian.

Taylor starts out singing about a bronze, spray-tanned statue that would threaten to push her down.

Meanwhile, she tried to build her career and life around the bullying.

The hitmaker goes on to say “I’m screaming f**K you aIMee to the night sky.”

However, one line that fans thought drew the line was about Taylor’s mother, Andrea, saying that she wanted this “school bully” dead.

“Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman, but she used to say she’d wish that you were dead,” she sang.

Taylor Swift ‘shades’ Kim Kardashian with hidden message in new album as fans tell singer to ‘get over it’

This reference could also have a double meaning at one of Kim’s children because she has a son named Saint.

Taylor continued to throw digs that fans could only connect back to Kim, 43, and her daughter, North, 10.

“I wrote a thousand songs that you find uncool. I built a legacy that you can’t undo, but when I count the scars, there’s a moment of truth, that there wouldn’t be this, if there hadn’t been you,” she sings.

Taylor goes on to say that she believes that this person that she is singing about hasn’t changed much, so she changed their name and defining clues about them.

Taylor’s bitter feud with Kanye and Kim explained
Taylor Swift has been locked in a nasty feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian for years.

2009 – Kanye interrupted Taylor’s VMA win for Best Female Video onstage, saying, “I’m really happy for you and I’mma let you finish but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time”

2009 – Later that month, Kanye admitted he regretted the action and Taylor confirmed that he rang to apologize

2010 – Taylor performed Innocent, a song rumored to be about Kanye, at the VMAs, singing, “It’s all right / Just wait and see / Your string of lights is still bright to me / Who you are is not where you’ve been”

2013 – Kanye took back his apology to the singer, insisting, “I do not have one regret”

2015 – The former rivals reunited at the 2015 Grammy Awards and posed together for photos and Taylor later said she “likes him as a person”

2016 – Kanye debuted his song, Famous, with the lyrics, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b***h famous”

2016 – After Taylor insisted she did not approve the lyric, “I made that b***h famous,” Kim released video footage of her phone call with Kanye

2017 – Taylor seemingly referenced their feud in her album, Reputation, teasing the news with videos of a serpent – a nod to the snake emojis posted in her Instagram comments implying she was a liar – and seemed to diss Kanye in her song, This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

2018 – Taylor said Kim had not released the full recording and asked, “Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me ‘that b***h’ in his song? It doesn’t exist because it never happened. You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that b***’ in front of the entire world”

2019 – Kim insisted in a magazine interview that they had “squashed” their feud

2019 – Taylor claimed Kanye’s Famous music video was “revenge porn” as it featured a fake naked sculpture of her

2020 – The full phone call between Taylor and Kanye was leaked, in which there was no mention of her being called “that b***h”

2020 – Kim initially said the call revealed “nothing new” and later backtracked and tweeted, “the only issue I ever had around the situation was that Taylor lied through her publicist who stated that ‘Kanye never called to ask for permission…’ They clearly spoke so I let you all see that. Nobody ever denied the word ‘b***h’ was used without her permission.

2023 – Taylor said in a TIME interview that the feud with Kim and Kanye felt like a “career death” and “took her down psychologically”
But, Swifties know that North is a fan of Taylor’s music.

She posts TikToks with her songs on it and has worn the star’s merchandise before, despite her mother and father, Kanye West, being in a feud with Taylor.

So, as a real defining clue, Taylor goes on to sing, “And one day your kid comes home singing a song that only us two is gonna know is about you.”

At the end of the song, Taylor goes back to thanKing aIMee because she won’t forget the way she made her heal.

CROSSING THE LINE
Some music listeners believe that Taylor crossed the line when she said that Andrea wished Kim was dead, despite many other singers writing about their enemies.

Reddit users commented about the lyric on the platform.

“Taylor’s death wish is over the line. Like everyone else, I stopped caring about the Kim/Taylor drama a long time ago. But Taylor sending a literal death wish toward Kim in a song where she spells Kim’s name in capital letters so there’s no confusion about who she’s talking about is just too far,” the original poster wrote.

“She also directly brought Kim’s children into it and now the entire internet is mentioning a North in relation to a song that wishes Kim dead and North is old enough that there’s no way she won’t find out about it. How confusing and upsetting for a child.”

“I’ll never look at her the same way,” they ended.

Some Reddit users said that Taylor knows how to hold grudges while others said they think North will come for her in a song in a few years.

“With how successful Taylor is now, it’s really pathetic that she’s still talking about this,” said another.

“It screams immature and irrelevant. Move on girl. We all have,” wrote another user.

Aside from thanK you aIMee, Taylor sang about Kim and Kanye on This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things and Look What You Made Me Do (reputation, 2017) and Innocent (Speak Now, 2010).

Fans also believe the song Cassandra off of TTPD could be about Kim since it references phone calls and snakes.

Kanye sang about Taylor in his songs Famous (The Life of Pablo, 2016) and Carnival (Vultures 1, 2024).

SWIFTIE SMACKDOWN
However, on the other side of things some fans trolled Kim after they heard the song.

Shortly after Taylor’s release, fans went to Kim’s Instagram page and called her aIMee in the comments.

“The way I ran to Instagram after thanK you aIMee,” one fan said.

“As soon as I heard the song, I couldn’t get here fast enough,” wrote another.

“I just listened to the Kim diss song,” a third clapped. “Super clever, Taylor, much needed.”
