Celine Dion dazzled as the closing performer at the opening ceremony for the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday.
The music legend took to the stage at the Eiffel Tower to sing Edith Piaf’s “L’Hymne à l’amour” shortly after the Olympic cauldron was lit.
The appearance marked Dion’s first live performance since 2020, including since when she revealed she was diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder, in 2022.
Dion has dazzled fans as an iconic pop superstar for over four decades, but out of the spotlight, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer is also a mother of three.
Dion and her late husband and manager René Angélil, who died in 2016, shared three sons — René-Charles Angélil and twins Nelson and Eddy Angélil.
On June 17, Dion’s eldest son, René-Charles Angélil, joined her at the New York premiere of her new documentary, “I Am: Céline Dion.” The documentary was released June 25 and is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
In an emotional speech at the premiere, Dion shouted out her three children for their “daily love and support.”
“I love you very much,” she added after she thanked each of them by name.
Earlier this year, in May, Dion was joined by her three sons as she watched the Rolling Stones perform at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The family went backstage to see Mick Jagger, and Dion shared a photo on Instagram of herself and her sons with the rock star.
“What an incredible show! A very special thanks to @mickjagger for warmly welcoming my family. You got us rocking!” Dion captioned the photo.
Since announcing in 2022 that she had been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, Dion has leaned on her sons for support.
In February, Dion made a surprise appearance at the 66th Grammy Awards, where she was escorted on stage by René-Charles Angélil.

In October 2020, to mark the tenth birthday of her “beautiful boys,” Dion shared three childhood photos of her twins on Instagram.
“Nelson and Eddy, you have been bringing so much joy, love and laughter into our lives every single day for the past 10 years,” she wrote in the caption. “You make me, your big brother and your Dad, who is for sure watching over you, so very proud.”
Both the twins and their elder brother all appear to be hockey fans. In November 2023, they posed for photos with their famous mom and players from the Montreal Canadiens in the locker room after a game against the Vegas Golden Knights, according to Dion’s Instagram.
“My boys and I had such a fun time visiting with the Montreal Canadiens after their hockey game with Vegas Golden Knights in Las Vegas Monday night. They played so well, what a game!!” Dion captioned the photos with her sons. “Thank you for meeting us after the game, guys! That was memorable for all of us.”
