Céline Dion’s Journey of Healing: Not Ready to Date After Husband’s Death
Céline Dion is still on her journey of healing. At 51, the legendary singer recently shared her feelings about life after losing her husband, René Angélil, nearly four years ago.
“I’m not ready to date. I don’t date,” Dion revealed. “I’m lucky to have many wonderful people around me who bring joy to my life. But I miss being touched, hugged, and told, ‘You’re beautiful.’ I miss the connection that comes with having a boyfriend or husband.”
There were rumors that Céline was romantically involved with her close friend and backup dancer, Pepe Muñoz. However, many believe he is just a close companion. Instead of focusing on these rumors, the “Power of Love” singer is dedicating her energy to her music and reflecting on her final moments with René.
Reflecting on those last moments, Dion said, “Before one of my shows, he called to say, ‘I love you.’ When I got home late that night, I didn’t want to wake him to say goodnight. The next morning, he was gone. We had said our goodbyes.”
René passed away in January 2016 after a battle with cancer. He was 73 years old. The couple shared three children: René-Charles, then 18, and twins Eddy and Nelson, who were 8 years old at the time. Céline and René had been married since 1994.
